Has It Gone

Has it gone?
Has it fallen away?
The best of the day?
Stone arches collapsing
in shafts of yellow light.
A dove in flight.
An organist, dead on the keys
makes the pipes play.
Has it gone?
The best of the day?

Through the arched window,
children play in the sun.
The sky is blue, clouds fluffy.
High the birds swoop,
and dive in the warm sky.
Horses shake heads.
Balloons on strings dance in the wind.
There is ice cream,
and silver.
Cartwheels in heather.
Will this day last?
Or go on forever?
