Until Today

All was great.
The skies of grey had gone away,
and shone in warmth,
until today.

The mournful blackbirds used to play,
and black bare trees were brown and soft.
The endless frost was a silver sea,
and dawn's wide smile brought joy my way,
as every hour spoke to me
of endless possibility,
until today.

The rusted cars cracked jokes
about old machine's found hopes.
The sleepless oceans calmed and lay.
A myriad of glittering jewels
in blues and muted turquoise hues
lined up and cried salutes to each long golden day.
Even robots took time to pray,
and bless the warmth,
your touch,
the words,
the special orange light we made,
lit to shine our way
until today.
