Perhaps Another Day

We think what we should say.
The words don't go away.
We think we'll think, and wait.
Perhaps another day.

The air is thick like water.
No gazes eyed at all.
A flittered smile at no one.
A rusted focus on the wall.

I think what I should say.
I pray that I might write.
A chalk right now would work, alright.
A chalk, a phone...
one word tonight.
The word that I should say.

A new beginning needed!
New entry through the door.
A new hello, and handshake.
New!
This oldness is the problem, true.
Exposing failures, failed before.
Yes a chalk, and yes a door!

...

We think what we should say.
The words don't go away.
We think we'll think, and wait.
Perhaps another day.
