Ode To Value Added Tax

There's no ker as voracious as the chancellor,
and that sniper has his target set on me.
I want to buy but I don't have much money
and now I have a bill for V.A.T.

An unfair tax, the victim the economy.
It punishes for buying and for trade.
The paperwork it makes lays waste to forests
and cancels out the earnings that are made.

A tax that stifles commerce is a traitor
who writes a million lines "I must not be".
Too bad, it seems the pointless politicians
romance the reams and thrill of V.A.T.
