My Tears Were Blind

When you're feeling low,
looking at yourself,
you can only see
what you will not be.

Sadness has a way
of reflecting loss.
Tiny flaws are great.
Beauty turned to hate.

My tears were blind
but not my love
and now the mirror shows a face I did not see.
My tears were blind
but not my love,
it was inside and it took you to set it free.

Squeezing out a heart
nobody could see.
Passion for each word
lonely but still heard.

Yet my passion's red
looked a grey to me,
and to my surprise
love opened my eyes.

My tears were blind
but not my love
and now the mirror shows a face I did not see.
My tears were blind
but not my love,
it was inside and it took you to set it free.
