Manic Depression

You know the feeling when you've won it all
and every-thing is looking just fine.
The rain is falling like a waterfall
but in your heart there's only sun shine.

I got that feeling now n-n-n-n-now now
I got that feeling now n-n-n-n-now now
I got that feeling now n-n-n-n-now now n-n-n-n-now now

but then is all goes wrong
and the pain and the sorrow
pour down like dust buried tears
of lost choices and years.
And black grows the sky
and crushed eyes and sugar
are all I desire.
And on hot knives I ride
and depressed tired thoughts
inevitably spiral towards suicide.

But then, I feel better.

You know the feeling when the day is long
and every minute is a good one?
And every sentence is exhalted song
and every feeling is a love one?

I got that feeling now n-n-n-n-now now
I got that feeling now n-n-n-n-now now
I got that feeling now n-n-n-n-now now n-n-n-n-now now

but then it all goes wrong
and clutching my temples
I cry to my bed
and pray I was dead.
The utter pointlessness of
futile existence
bites home like iron jaws
on the stark salty bones
of my weak pathetic limbs
and I fall into nervous slumber.

But then, I feel better.

You ever see the sun in winter sky
smiling at you like an old friend.
You find you're happy but do not know why
and every second is a god send.

I got that feeling now n-n-n-n-now now
I got that feeling now n-n-n-n-now now
I got that feeling now n-n-n-n-now now n-n-n-n-now now

but then it all goes wrong
and prickling misery
claws at my extremities
and sucks at my lifeforce
and vast gaping chasms
of monoteny and futility fill my
visual arc
and all is dark,
darkness and efforted breath,
and down into the pit I plunge,
deeper into the deep well
into joyless death,
for life is hell.
