Another Mile To Go

Sarah's fine at home
deep within her eyes of wonder.
Cast another stone,
deep within the hearts of angels.
Deep within the maze eternal.
Sarah's fine today
Taste the time like any apple.
River find your way.
Sail away another comment.
Cycle round another charity.

She answers only with a smile,
another mile to go,
and even then her eyes are dead.
The lamp it flickers low.
The lights are in her head.

Smells of damp and fog
rest among the arms of greyness.
Lost within the love.
Echoes in the mind of Sarah.
Calls for help within the forest.
Sarah's fine at home
Swimming in the shallow waters.
Warm as summer rain.
Salty as the tears of morphene.
Salty like the only time she kissed.

She answers only with a smile,
another mile to go,
and even then her eyes are dead.
The lamp it flickers low.
The lights are in her head.

Animals at play,
fawns and children in the orchard.
Sarah's gone away,
like the moment and the acorn
rolling over rocks and pebbles.
Frozen in a frame.
Touched by ice, the sting of winter.
Hats are red and green,
signals for the trees that watch them
trees of gold and trees of silver stone.

She answered only with a smile,
another mile to go,
and even then her eyes were dead.
The lamp was always low,
the light inside her head.
