Montague Smith

I have a friend that works for Harpers and Queen,
it is the most refined that he's ever been
so now he's scum and a bit.
His name is Montague Smith.

He has a sports car and he always wears ties
and you can tell it from the look in his eyes
he thinks he's cool as a cat,
but he's the school rat.

I think his mother has some kind of disease but I don't know what it is.
Neither does he,
that's Montague Smith for ye.

I knew him when we were just lads in the park,
we used to play and stay outside until dark
and he was working class then,
his name was Kevin or Ken.

His dad was fat and drove a crane for a crook,
while in her flat his mum would wash up and cook
but that was decades ago
I bet his colleagues don't know.

I think his mother has some kind of disease but I don't know what it is.
Neither does he,
that's Montague Smith for ye.

But I remember dusty youth,
as children we would play pre-tend.

I have a friend that works for Harpers and Queen,
it is the most refined that he's ever been
so now he's scum and a bit.
His name is Keith Bellingsthorpe.
