About this book
Born in Russia in 1861, Lou Andreas-Salomé is remembered for her friendships with the great thinkers of her day. As well as being a poet, author, narrator and essayist, Salomé was the first female psychoanalyst, and muse to Friedrich Nietzsche, Paul Rée, Rainer Maria Rilke, and Sigmund Freud.

In 2022, Italian author and journalist Stefano Santachiara approached Fall in Green, Deborah Edgeley and Mark Sheeky, to create a performance adaptation of his biographical play Loving Lou Salomé. The result was Lou Salomé: Empathy With Daisies, a performance of poetry and music, augmented with props and video projection. The premiere took place in the presence of the author in Congleton Library, Cheshire, on the 3rd of August 2022. The album version was recorded shortly after and released digitally and on CD on the 2nd of December 2022.

This book contains the words and the piano music of this performance. The beautiful book of music and poetry, with new full colour illustrations created for this publication is the first book of a Fall in Green performance. The music, rendered in 450dpi for supreme clarity, contains the words placed in the music as performed by Deborah Edgeley, not per-note as in normal song lyrics.
