About this book
Composed over two years, The Burning Circus, my second complete poetry collection, was developed with a specific theme of using circus characters to explore different aspects of a personality. Here are some extracts from the foreword by former Cheshire Poet Laureate, John Lindley:

"Divided into three linked sections, Mark Sheeky's astonishing new collection takes us on a journey, via a 'fragile caravan of dreams', in which the passing scenery is seen as if through a distorted mirror; a journey whose twists, turns and destination are wholly unexpected.

In images so tactile you half expect the greasepaint to come off on your fingers, this is language from one of our finest poets, that dazzles without attempting to disguise the grit of sawdust beneath the sparkle. From the shiny onomatopoeia of Mister & Mrs Knife Thrower to the Juggler who 'builds a scarf from air's yarn' these poems, whilst seemingly revelling in freakish abandon, are, ironically perhaps, skilful, precise and never less than breathtakingly surprising."
