About this painting
Painted for a Transport for London competition, the brief was to paint a futuristic underground railway station.

Like two frames of an animation, one giant figure crawls from the primeval slime to stand upright and span the station. The sphere represents the future. The green of the surface world is found inside; is this an invasion of the station by nature, or is it a carefully planned synthetic garden area developed by the station managers? It is neither. The green is the old Earth, and the cold sky the new one.
