About this painting
A painting of The White Nancy in Bollington, a famous Cheshire monument, erected to commemorate the Napoleonic wars.

Begun at the dawn of 2016 and a momentous political year for Britain as the country voted to leave the European Union, and as France, assaulted by attacks by middle-eastern extremists, decided to increase its overseas engagements. It was was though some Napoleon had been resurrected.

The storm on the horizon could be a distant battle, or something coming, some dawn, a spark of change, a rush of a new fate, that must be charged into with joy, to the sounds of Beethoven's Eroica.
