About this painting
This painting is about the British Labour party of the time, a 2008 prediction of its demise due to the devolution of political power to Scotland and Wales, once Labour heartlands but now home to rampant of nationalism. Like many of my ideas, the concept came from an instant sketch; the title and whole image appearing at once.

A twisted root lies crucified on a flag, the flag of Scotland. From the skull bursts a red flower. The root is dry, dead, hanged. A monument.
