About this painting
A painting about urban pollution.
The city in this wide format panel looks almost like 1930's New York. Instead of King Kong we see a dragon to the left, swirling in clouds of brown in contrast to the angular buildings. |
Technical details
There are only two colours here. The light blue background was dry before the a liquid brown was rubbed onto the surface, leaving the thin sky visible. The buildings were added deftly with a palette knife, as well as the rough form of the dragon. The stochastic result has echoes Max Ernst who used similar techniques of guided randomness.
