About this event
An arts performance as part of a night of events with the theme of Women and Democracy called Athena's Voice. The project was curated by Ana Cockerill for Women's Day 2017.

The event was a mix of music, video, and audience participation, with the idea of changing the context of the words of an audience to transform their opinions and distort democracy.

The audience was asked "Why do women wear make up?" and their voices were recorded and played back in eternal loop. Sabine Kussmaul and Mark Sheeky played music over these replies while a short video played. Mark read the audience's replies in a misrepresentative tone.

After a short time, the music was stopped. The audience were then asked to vote on a question with only vague relevance to the subject, and with a simple yes/no reply which was taken to an irrational extreme, using the excuse of the will of the audience to justify its excessive conclusions.
