Improv Night: Raw
Mash Guru, Macclesfield
31 May 2016

About this event
One of a series of experimental art performance nights at music venue Mash Guru, curated and organised by Sabine Kussmaul and Mark Sheeky. The theme of the evening was Raw, as in raw emotions.

Performances included Dissection of the Eyeball, a piece involving percussion and speech by the audience, and Raw, a poem that Mark Sheeky developed to be read with members of the audience, so that words overlap to create a tangle of sounds to echo the tangle of fibres that make up the psyche.

Other acts included a video by Sue Mascarenhas, butoh dance recorded on the shores of the Black Sea by Anastasia, and a jam to live recorder music by Mark Sheeky and Sabine Kussmaul. Films and spoken words by visual artist Tom Heaton, and music by Tim Woodhouse also featured.
